Found in northern Baluchistan, near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border which makes its location strategically important as it acts as a trade route between Afghanistan and Pakistan. It is surrounded by four mountains that act as a natural fort. It is located at 30.20 latitude and 67.01 longitude and is situated at an elevation of 1682 meters above sea level with an area of 3,501 km² and Population of 1.001 million. The inhabitants of Quetta are mainly Pashtun followed by Brahui and Baloch. You can also find Punjabis, Hazaras, Uzbeks, Tajiks and Turkmen rubbing shoulders with the other inhabitants. They are known to be hospitable to visitors because hospitality is considered an extremely important element of their culture. Quetta as a city has a vast historical background due to which their culture and traditions are very strong. The Pashtun traditional dishes such as Kadi kebab, Lamb Roash, Balochi Saji and other traditional delicious dishes are available around the city especially at Prince Road, Jinnah Road, and Serena Hotels. The Pashtun tribal cuisine “Roash” which non-locals call “Namkin” is to be found in both city restaurants as well as in the outlying areas. Some of the finest mutton in the country is raised around Quetta and is a mainstay of local cuisine. The city is indeed a fine treat.
