Shimshal is located in Gojal Tehsil of Hunza District, in the Gilgit–Baltistan region. It lies at an altitude of 3,100 m above sea level and is the hi
highest settlement in the district. It is the largest valley in Gilgit-Baltistan. Shimshal River, a tributary of the Hunza River also flows through the valley. Shimshal is a border village that connects the Gilgit-Baltistan area of Pakistan with China.
